Formed in 1994, Downtown Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association is a non-profit organization under the direction of an Executive Director and volunteer board. We work hard to promote the interests of our members: the licensed business operators and property owners located within our boundaries. We receive our authority from City of Port Coquitlam Bylaw No. 3922, which established the Downtown Business Improvement Area.
We believe that giving back is a great way to increase our members’ exposure while building loyalty and relationships in the community. We want the downtown to be a welcoming place for visitors to experience PoCo. We put on multiple events throughout the year that allow our members to connect with each other as well as bring people from all around for events that are designed to showcase the downtown . We are working hard to showcase downtown PoCo as the vibrant, fun, and progressive community that it is. Our marketing materials and social media channels are our way of expressing our creative processes in communication to offer value to our members. They are designed to increase visits, outline the benefits of shopping locally, and highlight the businesses and events in our area.
Striving to create a safe, beautiful and prosperous downtown, we work with key stakeholders to advocate for positive change. As the voice of the downtown business community, we look for input from our membership to make sure we are focusing on the issues that are affecting them and help support or promote their interests as a valued member of the business community.
We represent over 300 business members within the downtown PoCo community. All businesses that are physically located within our boundaries are automatically members.
