Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors

We elect a new Board of Directors at our AGM each spring from among our membership. Our board meets monthly (except for July, August and December) to guide the BIA and find ways to promote our organization and members. Serving on the board is a great opportunity to increase your business profile and do your part for downtown businesses.

Contact the BIA office if you are interested in joining a future board or have any questions about the responsibilities and time commitment.

Matt Le Roy — PRESIDENT

Small Business Advisor: Community Business and Investment at Vancity

Community Minded. Rad Dad. Softball Star.

Matt has been working with small and medium-sized organizations at Vancity since 2012. Through his work, he helps create healthy organizations that contribute to a sustainable economy. In addition to his work with the BIA, he is also a Community Review Panellist for the Douglas College Self-Employment program and a Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. Originally from Bowen Island, Matt now lives in Port Coquitlam with his wife and three kids, where he enjoys playing hockey and softball in his spare time.

Catherine Polonio — DIRECTOR

Owner and Senior Floral Designer at Coquitlam Florist

Kickass Human. Competitive Giver. Creative Crafter. Troublemaker.

Catherine is the go-to resource for all your flowers and candy needs. She has owned Coquitlam Florist for over ten years and recently expanded to another location in Abbotsford, Rosebay Florist. As a former Tri-City Chamber Member of the Year, Catherine’s passion for the Port Coquitlam community continues to shine and she lights up the room wherever she goes. Plus, she always has snacks.

Darci Menard — DIRECTOR

Owner and Hair Stylist at DM & Co

Sideline Cheerleader. Eyelash Queen. Dog Mom.

After being a self-employed hair stylist for over 20 years, she made the leap in 2016 to open her own studio, DM & Co. In 2017 she added Younique Beauty Expert to her resume and hired the cutest assistant ever: her adorable half-shih tzu, half-papillon pup, Millie. Darci is originally from Coquitlam but moved to PoCo with her family when she was young. Growing up in a hockey family, she has perfected her sideline cheerleading skills and is always ready to cheer on a friend. Ask her how you can get your own Rockstar lashes with just a mascara!

Sam Nosworthy — DIRECTOR

Manager and Hair Stylist at In a Wink Beautique

Fearless Leader. Fiesty Forward.

Sam has been a hairdresser for 15 years and has been the Manager at In a Wink Beautique Salon and Spa for the past three years. She joined the Port Coquitlam BIA to help showcase the business community in this amazing city. Sam loves to be behind the chair and is always showing her staff the tricks of the trade. In her off time, she plays competitive ice hockey and loves hanging out with her boyfriend, Toby; son, Jack; and puppy, Herschel. Sam is very excited to be part of the Downtown PoCo team.

Sarah Harbord — DIRECTOR

Director of Operations at Patina Brewing Co.

Beer Expert. Operational Guru. Awesome Mom.

After moving to Port Coquitlam five years ago, Sarah knew she wanted to be a part of this great community! Having travelled the world and lived in many different cities, there was no question that this is where she wanted to raise her children. After completing her Business Administration diploma and working in sales and marketing in different industries, she finally found her perfect career choice in Port Coquitlam: Craft beer. Now as the Director of Operations of Patina Brewing Co. she has the opportunity to live, work, raise her children and be a part of this vibrant changing city.

Gabriel Wong — DIRECTOR

Owner Westcoast SCI Physiotherapy Port Coquitlam

Loving Husband. Super Hero Dad. Passionate Coach. Lifelong Learner.

Gabriel started Westcoast SCI Physiotherapy in 2010 after being disillusioned by the physiotherapy industry. He wanted to create a new way of providing physiotherapy care where the patient comes first rather than making decisions based on financial incentives. You can find Gabriel participating in the BIA events, coaching his kids’ sport teams, shredding the mountain or talking to someone about how they can get healthy even though there’s not enough hours in the day.

Kaylee McLeod — DIRECTOR

Assistant Store Manager at Shaughnessy Station Safeway

Girl-Boss. Foodie. Mentor. Self-Proclaimed Queen of the Nerds.

Kaylee has been in the Grocery industry since 2005, working her way up from her high school summer job as a cashier in her home town of Maple Ridge, to her current role in Port Coquitlam.  She’s passionate about feeding our community, promoting great local food suppliers, helping to develop the next generation of leaders, and finding ways to give back in any way that she can.  In her down time, Kaylee is an avid gamer, amateur fiddle player, and loves to experiment in the kitchen.

Downtown POCO BIA Staff

Jennifer has been with the BIA since 2019. She specializes in company culture and is passionate about the Tri-Cities and community engagement. She is a long-term board member of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce (2016) where she runs the Ambassador and Membership Experience Teams. Jennifer has a seat on the Vantage Point Board and Chairs their HR Committee and is the Vice Chair for the Coquitlam Foundation. Jennifer enjoys time with her kids, in particular eating good food and bowling. Leslie Lessard — SOCIAL MEDIA AND MARKETING MANAGER

Digital Media Specialist

World Traveller. Podcast Lover. Social Media Enthusiast. Pop-Culture Expert.

After graduating from BCIT with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Tourism Marketing, Leslie started her own Marketing Consulting business helping small businesses gain traction in an increasingly technology driven world. She loves working with the BIA and getting to know the Port Coquitlam community. In a former life she brought sets to life in theatre and film.
